Welcome to the 2020 Going the Distance Ride for the Boys & Girls Club of Brattleboro! We’re happy to have you riding with us on June 20, 2020.

Though we’re in the midst of the COVID-19 Pandemic, we want you to know that we have been making plans for this year’s Going the Distance Ride. We chose June 20th as the date for the GTD 6 months ago. We’re closely following developments around COVID-19. We’re fortunate that June 20th is more than 2 months away.  We may have to postpone the GTD to a later date, Saturday September 12th, but we will not cancel it. We greatly appreciate your past support of the GTD and the Boys & Girls Club and will keep you informed of any changes in our plans.

You’ll find information here to help you train for the Ride and suggestions for your fundraising. Look at “About the Club” for some facts, figures and information about the Club and our latest Newsletter. You can use this information in your fundraising email. The more you know about the Club, the easier it is to ask people to donate to support you.

Click on “Registration/Fundraising” to see how to register for the Ride and set up and edit your personal FirstGiving (FG) page for online donations. There’s also a sample email you can edit and send to potential donors and helpful Fundraising Tips and suggestions.

Our idea is to have all riders set a personal goal of raising $350 or more for the Club. This is a “goal’ and not a “commitment.” We know that some of you have not done this type of fundraising before, but we think that if you give it some thought, use our suggestions, and start early enough, ideally by May 1st, you can reach your goal. Don’t hesitate to contact anyone on the Planning Committee if you need help. We’ll help you in any way we can.

We’ll have a T-shirt for all riders and a GTD bike jersey for those who raise over $1000.

Use the next few weeks to start training for the Ride and to think about your fundraising. Review the Fundraising Tips, compose your email, register and set up your personal FirstGiving page and make a list of people to solicit. Give yourself enough time and start sending out your email appeals by May 1st or sooner.

Talk about the Ride with your friends and try to get more people to join us. If people  you know are interested, would like more information or definitely want to ride, send their contact information to one of the Planning Committee members.

When the Club is able to reopen, we’d love to have you visit the Club and take a tour of the facility. Stop by our 17 Flat Street Clubhouse in downtown Brattleboro any afternoon between 3:00 and 5:30 PM and one of our teen members will be happy to show you around.

If you have any questions about the Club or about donations that have been made to support you, contact  Jes Wright at the Club: 802- 254-5990 ext. 102. Leave a message and someone will get back to you as soon as possible. or send an email to:   <jes.wright@bgcbrattleboro.org>

Thanks again and we’re looking forward to a great Ride on June 20th.
